Set Screw Adjustment (Models 45 and 50)
Mini-Jector Models 45 and 50 have set screws that connect the barrel plunger assembly to the carriage (guide rod) system.
The set screws can cause mis-alignment between the barrel and the guide rods if they are tight against the barrel. The screws should be installed such that they only lightly contact the barrel. Mis-alignment can also occur if a spring should happen to break.

Install the set screw using the following procedure:

  1. Have the set screw extend through the rear casting. Place the barrel into the casting so the set screw goes into the pocket.

  2. Place the outer cap onto the dowel pins and assemble with the 4 ¼-20 bolts.

  3. Back out the set screw so there is no pressure against the barrel, making sure the set screw is still in the pocket. Tighten the 4 ¼-20 bolts.

  4. Tighten the set screw so there is light pressure against the barrel.

While only 1 set screw is required, some machines have both a front and back set screw. In the case of a machine with 2 set screws, use the same procedure for both, or remove one.
